Kolkata Knight Riders won the title of IPL 2024.

                               

Kolkata Knight Riders have won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the third time.

In the final held on Sunday, Sunrisers beat Hyderabad by 8 wickets and became the champions of Kolkata. Kolkata had previously won the title in 2012 and 2014. Hyderabad, who won the title in 2016, lost in the final for the second time after 2018.

Kolkata completed the target of 114 runs presented by Hyderabad in the 11th over. Despite losing opener Sunil Narine in the second over, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer shared a partnership of 91 runs. Narayan was caught out after adding 6 runs in the second over. Gurbaz scored 39 runs off 32 balls and got out lbw. He hit 5 fours and 2 sixes. Venkatesh was not out for 52 runs off 26 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Shreyas Iyer remained not out for 6 runs.

Before that, Sunrisers, who won the toss and batted first, scored 113 runs before being bowled out in the 19th over. Captain Pat Cummins, who came to bat at number eight for the team, scored the most 24 runs. Hyderabad, who had a poor start, lost openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head in the first two overs. In the fifth over, Rahul Tripathi was dismissed for 9 runs. Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 13 runs and Aidan Markram contributed 20 runs.

Kolkata's Andre Russell took 3 wickets while Harshit Rana and Mitchell Starc took 2 wickets each. Vaibhav Arora, Sunil Narayan and Varun Chakraborty took 1 wicket each.

Mitchell Starc became Player of the Match due to his brilliant bowling performance as he take 2 crucial wickets in the powerplay so that kolkata can make dominance against hyderabad. He only give 14 runs in 3 overs.
