By defeating Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have managed to reach the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL). RCB qualified for the playoffs by registering a 27-run victory over Chennai in their last match of the league stage.

After winning only 1 match in the first 8 matches, RCB won the next 6 consecutive matches and managed to stay at the fourth position in the points table.

Chennai could score only 191 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. For Chennai, opener Rachin Ravindra scored 61 runs off 37 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. In the first Qualifier 1 of the IPL, Kolkata Knight Riders and the second placed team will face each other to enter the final.

Faf du Plesis became Player of the Match due to his brilliant knock of 54 runs in 39 deliveries.

RCB and the third placed team will meet in the eliminator on Tuesday. The winner of that match will play against the losing team in Qualifier 1 to enter the final.
