Kolkata beat Lucknow by huge margin

                         

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Lucknow Super Giants by 98 on Sunday to climb to the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Kolkata has reached 16 points from 11 games. Rajasthan Royals, who are in second place with equal points, have played one game less. Lucknow is fifth with 12 points.

Chasing a target of 236 runs, Lucknow was bowled out for 137 runs in 16.1 overs.

Marcus Stoins scored 36 runs and captain KL Rahul only scored 25 runs. Ayush Badoni scored 15 runs, Nicholas Pooran scored 10 runs and Ashton Turner scored 16 runs. No other batter could score runs in double figures.

Kolkata's Harshit Rana and Varun Chakraborty took 3 each, Andre Russell 2 and Mitchell Starc and Sunil Narine 1 each.

Batting first, Kolkata scored 235 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Sunil Narine scored the highest 81 runs. He hit 6 fours and 7 sixes in 39 balls.

Phil Salt scored 32 runs off 14 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. Ankush Raghuvanshi scored 32, Ramandeep Singh scored 25 runs, Shriyash Iyer scored 23 runs, Andre Rachel scored 12 runs and Rinku Singh scored 16 runs.

Lucknow's Naveen Ul Haq took 3 wickets, Yash Thakur, Ravi Bisnoi and Yudhvir Singh took 1 each. Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face each other in the IPL on Monday.
