By registering a win in their last match of the league stage, Sunrisers Hyderabad has climbed to the second position in the Indian Premier League (IPL) table. After registering a 4-wicket win against Punjab, Hyderabad climbed to the second position.
Hyderabad met the huge target of 215 runs given by Punjab by losing 6 wickets with 5 balls remaining. For Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma scored 66 runs off 28 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. Similarly, Henrik Klaasen hit 3 fours and 2 sixes and scored 42 runs in 26 balls. Nitish Reddy scored 37 runs and Rahul Tripathi scored 37 runs.
Punjab's Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel took 2 wickets each while Harpreet Brar and Shashank Singh took 1 wicket each.
Before that, Punjab, who won the toss and chose to bat, added 214 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Punjab's opener Prabhasimran Singh scored 71 runs off 45 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes. Riley Russo scored 49 runs and Atharva Taideley scored 46 runs. Jitesh Sharma scored 32 runs in 15 balls.
Hyderabad's Natarajan took 2 wickets and Pat Cummins and Vijayakanth Vyaskanth took 1 wicket each.
Abhisekh Sharma became Player of the Match due to his exceptional batting performance as he scored 66 runs in just 28 deliveries.
After the win, Hyderabad has climbed to the second place in the table with 17 points from 14 games. In the last match remaining in the league stage, Rajasthan Royals, who have 16 points, win over the top ranked Kolkata Knight Riders, and will play for the second place and enter the finals.
