Sunrisers Hyderabad has improved the record by making the highest total in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After scoring 277 runs against Mumbai Indians on March 27, Hyderabad managed to score 287 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore today.
Before this edition, the record of 262 runs made by Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 stood for 10 years. But that record has been broken three times in this edition. Apart from Hyderabad setting the record twice, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 272 runs against Delhi Capitals this season.
Hyderabad made that total by losing only 3 wickets in 20 overs. Travis Head scored a century for Hyderabad. He scored 102 runs in 41 balls with 9 fours and 8 sixes after completing his century in 39 balls. Likewise, Henrik Klaasen scored 67 runs off 31 balls with 2 fours and 7 sixes. Abdul Samad hit 4 fours and 3 sixes in 10 balls. Abhishek Sharma added 34 runs and Aidan Markram added 32 runs.
Lockie Ferguson took 2 wickets and Rhys Topley took 1 wicket for Bengaluru.
In reply, Bengaluru managed to score 262 runs while losing 7 wickets. For Bengaluru, Dinesh Karthik scored 83 runs in 35 balls with 5 fours and 7 sixes but could not lead to victory. Captain Faf du Plessis scored 62 runs off 28 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes. Virat Kohli made 42 off 20 balls. Anuj Rawat added 25 while Mahipal Lomror added 19 runs. After the victory, Hyderabad has won 4 matches out of 6 matches and is in fourth place. Bengaluru remains at the bottom with 1 win in 7 matches.
