Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a comfortable victory in the first match of the Indian Premier League on Sunday with the help of Will Jacks explosive century innings. RCB registered a comprehensive victory over Gujarat Titans by 9 wickets.
RCB met the huge target of 201 runs given by Gujarat by losing only 1 wicket in 16 overs. Jacks hit 5 fours and 10 sixes in 41 balls to reach 100 runs for RCB. Similarly, Virat Kohli scored 70 runs in 44 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Faf du Plessis scored 25 runs.
Sai Kishore took the only wicket for Gujarat.
After losing the toss in Ahmedabad, Gujarat scored 200 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. For Gujarat, Sai Sudarshan scored 84 runs off 49 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Shah Rukh Khan scored 58 runs off 30 balls while David Miller scored 26 runs. Shubman Gill added 16 runs.
Swapnil Singh, Mohammad Siraj and Glenn Maxwell took 1 wicket each for RCB.
Will Jacks became Player of the Match due to his destructive batting as he scored 100 runs in just 41 deliveries with the strike rate of 243.90 with the help of 5 boundaries and 10 sixes
After the win, RCB remains at the bottom with 6 points from 10 matches. Gujarat is seventh with 8 points from 10 matches.
