Rajasthan Royals, who are at the top of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), have increased their points gap. While registering their eighth win in the ninth match, Rajasthan registered an easy 7-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants.
Chasing the target of 197 runs given by Lucknow, Rajasthan met the target with 6 balls remaining by losing only 3 wickets.
For Rajasthan, captain Sanju Samson remained unbeaten scoring 71 runs off 33 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes. Similarly, Dhruv Jurel remained not out after scoring 52 runs off 34 balls. Jos Buttler added 34 runs and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 24 runs.
Lucknow's Yash Thakur, Marcus Stoinis and Amit Mishra took 1 wicket each.
Before that, the home team, who lost the toss and were invited to bat, scored 196 runs after losing 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Captain KL Rahul scored 76 off 48 balls for Lucknow. Similarly, Deepak Hooda added 50 runs in 31 balls. Ayush Badoni remained unbeaten on 18 runs.
Sandeep Sharma of Rajasthan took 2 wickets and Trent Boult, Avesh Khan and Ravichandran Ashwin took 1 wicket each.
Sanju Samson became Player of the Match due to his outstanding batting performance. He scored 71 runs in just 33 balls.
After the win, Rajasthan remains at the top position with 16 points from 9 matches. Lucknow is fourth with 10 points from 9 matches.
