Despite Ashutosh Sharma's brilliant batting, Punjab Kings lost to Mumbai Indians by 9 runs in a dramatic manner in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday.
Eighth order batsman Ashutosh Sharma scored 61 runs for Punjab but it was not enough for victory. Surya Kumar scored a half-century in Mumbai's victory. Mumbai's Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee's bowling was important.
Chasing a target of 193 runs for victory, Punjab lost all in 19.1 overs and ended up with 183 runs. Punjab got off to a forgettable start. By adding only 14 runs, he had already lost 4 important players of the first rank. Prabhsimran Singh was out for no runs. After he got out, Riley Russo was out for 1 run, Sam Curran was out for 6 runs and Lyme Livingstone was also out for just 1 run.

In bowling, Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee took 3 wickets. Jaspreet spent only 21 runs in 4 overs while Gerald gave 32 runs. After winning the toss, Punjab chose to field first. Mumbai Indians who came into bat scored 192 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.
Opener Ishan Kishan was caught out by Kagiso Rabada for just 8 runs. Losing the first wicket at the start, Mumbai scored only 18 runs. But Rohit Sharma and Surya Kumar Yadav shared 81 runs for the second wicket. Rohit was dismissed for 36 runs.
Surya Kumar scored a half-century. He played an innings of 78 runs with 7 fours and 3 sixes while playing 53 balls. Then Tilak Burma remained at the crease on 34 not out. Captain Hardik Pandya added 10 runs and Tim Debit added 14 runs. In bowling, Harshal Patel bowled 4 overs and took the most 3 wickets. Similarly, Sam Curran took 2 wickets and Kagisho Rabada took 1 wicket.
This is Mumbai's third win and they are seventh with 6 points. Punjab, who have lost consecutively in the last 3 matches, are at the ninth position with 4 points. Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings will compete in the IPL on Friday.
