Gujrat win over Mumbai by 6 runs

                               


In the 16th edition of Indian Premier League(IPL), Gujrat Titans win against Mumbai Indians by 7 runs. The target of 169 runs given by Gujrat Titans to Mumbai Indians where Mumbai can only make 162 runs with the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians need 19 runs in the final over to win. Hardik Pandya, the skipper of Mumbai Indians struck a boundary and a six in the opening two deliveries in that scenario. But, Umesh Yadav dismissed Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla in the next two deliveries. Mumbai then managed to score just one run a piece in the final two balls.



Dewald Brevis led Mumbai in scoring with 46 of 38 balls, the most of any player for Mumbai Indians in that match. He hit 2 fours and 3 sixes in his inning. Rohit Sharma, the opener scored 43 runs of 29 balls. Notable contributions came from Tilak Varma who made 25 runs, and Naman Dhir, who made 20 runs.

Spenchor Johnson, Azmatullah Omarzai, Umesh Yadav, and Mohit Sharma each claimed two wickets for Gujrat Titans. Sai Kishore take one wicket in his spell.


  Gujrat Titans had earlier lost the toss and amassed of 168 runs despite losing six wickets in 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan led Gujrat in scoring with 45 runs of 39 balls, the highest of any player for Gujrat in this match. He hit 3 fours and 1 six that help Gujrat to make total of 168 runs.

In his similar vein, Shubman Gill in his debut as a captain, amassed 31 runs of 22 balls which include 3 fours and 1 six in his inning. Riddhiman Shah and Rahul Tewatia score 19 runs and 22 runs respectively. 


  Jasprit Bumrah, the main bowler for Mumbai Indians took three wickets with only giving 13 runs in his 4 over spell with the economy of only 3.50. This is one of the lowest economy in IPL and most economical spell in the IPL season of 2024. While Piyush Chawla and Gerald Coetzee took one and two wickets respectively in their bowling spell.

Sai Sudharsan become the Player of the Match in this game where he scored 45 runs knock off 39 balls.

Virat Kohli announced the retirement from t20I

Virat performed the player of the match while winning India the T20 World Cup title for the second time.
