Royal Challengers Bangalore have won their second match in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Bengaluru beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 35 runs on Thursday.
Chasing a target of 207 runs, Hyderabad managed to score only 171 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Sehwaz Amed scored the highest 40 not out runs for the team. Opener Abhishek Sharma and Pat Cummins scored 31 runs each, Nitesh Kumar Reddy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored 13 runs each. No other batter managed to score runs in double figures.
Bengaluru's Swapnil Singh, Karan Sharma and Cameron Green took 2 wickets each, Will Jacks and Yash Dayal took 1 wicket each.
Before that, Bengaluru chose to bat after winning the toss. With the half-centuries of Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, Bengaluru scored 206 runs while losing 7 wickets. Virat and Fa du Plessis shared 48 runs for the first wicket. Virat scored 51 runs in 43 balls with 4 fours and 1 six. Du Plessis scored 25 runs off 12 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. Patidar scored 50 runs in 20 balls with 5 sixes and 2 fours. Cameron Green added 37 runs. Dinesh Karthik scored 11 runs and Swapnil Singh scored 12 runs.
Hyderabad's Jaydev took 3 wickets, T Natarajan 2 and Pat Cummins 1 wicket.
Rajat Patidar became Player of the Match due to his fast knock of half century. He scored 50 runs in just 20 balls.
Even after the win, Bengaluru is at the bottom of the table with 4 points from 9 games. Hyderabad is third with 10 points. Kolkata Knight Risers with 10 points are second and Lucknow Super Giants are fourth. Rajasthan Royals are at the top with 14 points.
